Alex Albon To Williams

Williams Racing announced their line up this morning of Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi for the 2022 season.

The Thai-British driver will be joining the team and leaving the Red Bull programme, however they still hold options over him for the end of the 2022 season. Many will remember his promotion midseason from AlphaTauri to Red Bull in 2019, however was dropped from the seat at the end of the 2022 season. He has since been acting as a reserve and test driver for the team. Albon commented on the move, saying:

"I am really excited and looking forward to returning to a Formula 1 race seat in 2022. When you take a year out of F1 it’s never certain you will make a return so I’m extremely thankful to Red Bull and Williams for believing in me and helping me on my journey back to the grid... It’s also been great to see all the progress Williams have been making as a team this year and I look forward to helping them continue that journey in 2022."

Nicholas Latifi's contract for next season was also confirmed, after his first set of points with the team earlier in the season.

This now leaves one seat in question at Alfa Romeo before silly season comes to a close.
