Haas was established in April 2014 by the NASCAR Cup Series team owner Gene Haas. Originally, they planned to start on the grid in 2015, however, delayed this to 2014. The team are the sister team of Stewart-Haas Racing, which competes in NASCAR, with its base in both Kannapolis, NC - USA and Banbury, UK. They are the first American constructor to enter F1 since the unrelated Haas Lola team raced in the 1985 and 1986 season. The team purchased the UK headquarters from Marussia F1 (after their collapse) in 2014. The team have only had three other drivers before their current team, which were Romain Grosjean, Esteban Gutiérrez and Kevin Magnussen. The Team Principal is Gunther Steiner with Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin driving for the team, both rookies this season.

Mick Schumacher #47

Schumacher is a 22-year-old German driver, who is the son of 7 time World Champion Michael Schumacher. He has competed in karting for many years, however, did not use his surname when doing so. In 2014 he tested in F4, before taking a seat for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2015, before switching to Prema Powerteam who have links with Ferrari. He raced for them in F3 in 2017 and 2018, taking the title in the later season, before moving up to F2 in 2019 and being announced as part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. In 2020 he took the title F2 season title with Prema Racing. Driving under MSC, the abbreviation his father used, Schumacher was announced to be racing for Haas for the 2021 season, after signing a multi-season deal. However, it is unsure how long he will stay with the team after the Ferrari team principal said he could drive for Ferrari as soon as 2023.

Nikita Mazepin #9

Mazepin is a 22-year-old Russian driver, who drives under a neutral flag, representing the RAF. His father Dmitry Mazepin owns Uralkali, the main sponsor of the team and it is understood that he drives for the team as part of this deal, therefore he is thought to be a ‘paid driver’. He started karting back in 2011, before moving up to F3 in 2016 with Hitech Grand Prix, finishing 20th that season and tenth in the 2017 season. Mazepin then raced in GP3 for the 2018 season, before competing in F2 for the 2019 and 2020 season. In terms of F1, the driver was announced as a test driver for Force India in 2016 and tested for Mercedes in Barcelona in 2019. It was then confirmed he signed a multi-year deal alongside Schumacher for Haas, starting in the 2021 season.
