Formula 1 confirmed this afternoon that the Turkish Grand Prix will replace the Canadian Grad Prix.

Covid-19 wreaked havoc over the 2020 schedule. With the pandemic still widespread, it is unsurprising that is also affecting the 2021 calendar. Restriction in Canada would require Formula 1 to quarantine for 14 days upon entry to the country. This, alongside public health concerns, meant the Grand Prix was cancelled earlier this month However, luckily for F1 fans, the Turkish Grand Prix is returning to the calendar to fill the gap left between the 11th and 13th June. The Istanbul Park Circuit is located the Tuzla district of Istanbul; the race is 58 lap, as the circuit is 5.388 km (3.317 miles) long with 13 turns. The circuit held F1 races between 2005 and 2011, where it was then dropped, but reintroduced in 2020 where Hamilton came in P1, Perez P2 and Vettel P3. The President and CEO of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali commented on the Istanbul circuit, saying 'I know all our fans are excited by the dramatic start to the season and Turkey is a great circuit that delivers great battled on the track'. Hopefully, Turkey 2021 will live up to the excitement that Turkey 2020 brought. In the meantime, check out the extended highlights from last year's race for a great reminder of the track and what we've got to look forward to.

With a bit of luck, this be the last Covid-19 related change to the schedule. However, the are rumours swirling over the Sao Paulo GP which is meant to take place on the 7th November. Stay tuned for updates!
